Carroll D. Wienecke , age 98, longtime resident of West Chicago, passed away on January 5, 2019. He was born on June 9, 1920 in Sycamore, IL to Burt and Esther Wienecke. Carroll was united in marriage on February 11, 1956 to Norma Worden. He served for 11 years in the US Army as a Sergeant during WWII. Carroll was a master carpenter his entire life and enjoyed woodworking well into his 90's.
He was a kind and generous man. He always had a smile on his face and a never-ending supply of jokes to brighten someone's day. Carroll spent countless hours volunteering at St. Mary's Church and parish.
Carroll's favorite past times included having coffee with his friends, building in his workshop, playing the weekly lottery, trips to the casino, traveling on his many cruises, watching westerns and wheel of fortune, and spending time with his family he so loved.
Carroll is survived by his wife of 62 years, Norma; daughters, Debbie (Jeff) Siler and Stephie (Art) Arndt; grandchildren, J.J, Matt and Christian; sister, Joyce Brown and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Don, Gordy and Fred.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 9, 2019 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago. Prayers will be on Thursday, January 10, 2019 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary’s Church , 140 N. Oakwood Ave., West Chicago where Mass will be held at 10:00 am.
