Charlotte Tinnes

Charlotte S. Tinnes, age 88, lifetime resident of West Chicago, passed away on Thursday, March 15, 2012. She was born on July 1, 1923 in West Chicago, IL to John and Agnes Smith. Charlotte was a graduate of West Chicago High School and then went for nurse training at Copley Hospital in Aurora to serve in the US Army during WWII at the rank of 2nd Lieutenant. She was united in marriage on February 29, 1945 to Kenneth A. Tinnes. Charlotte was a devout Christian and a member of Faith Community Church in West Chicago. She worked in the nursing field with many doctors until her 70's. Charlotte was a strong conservative and very witty in nature and enjoyed walking, "rock collecting" and especially loved her family.
Charlotte is survived by her husband of 67 years, Kenneth of West Chicago; three daughters, Carol (Mike) Dwyer of Naperville, Cindy Akins of West Chicago, and Christine (Santo) Ianno of West Chicago; two sons, Steve Tinnes of Colorado and Philip (Mary) of West Chicago; thirteen grandchildren, Michael S. (Kristine) Dwyer, Bryan W. (Tracy) Dwyer, Mark P. (Jennifer) Dwyer, Katie (Steven) Bennetsen, Betsy Dwyer, Trisha (Eric) Engle, Jessica (Sean) Hussey, Mandy Akins, Kimberly Mueller, Rebecca Mueller, Elliott (Christen) Tinnes, Kenneth Charles Tinnes and Kelly Tinnes; thirteen great-grandchildren; twin sister, Carolyn (Louis) Neltnor and numerous relatives and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents, son-in-law Tim Akins and one grandson Matthew P. Dwyer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 19, 2012 from 3 to 9 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago (One block north of Washington St. & Main St). Funeral services will take place on Tuesday, March 20, 2012 at the funeral home at 11 am. Interment Private.
