David Michael Porter , 64, of Batavia, IL passed away on March 22, 2018 after a long battle with cancer. He was born on November 8, 1953 in Aurora the son of Gordon Grant Porter, Sr. and Marilyn Joy Porter.
David was employed at Strathmore Printing Company from 1980‐2009.
As an athlete at Batavia High School he broke the 180 Yard Low Hurdle track record his senior year, a record that, to this day still remains unbroken. On top of track, he also played varsity basketball and football. He bowled in the Porter Classic alongside his father and brother, “Buck” Porter and played softball as a member of the Aurora Turners Club. Dave was an avid fisherman and enjoyed spending time outdoors with his family.
Dave was a family man. Whether it be having dinner followed by board games, holidays spent at the house, or camping in the old pop‐up, he loved spending time with his loved ones.
He is survived by his beloved Nancy Planek of West Chicago, IL; four children, Niki Porter of Whitehall, NY, Amanda Porter of Aurora, IL, Kristen Porter of Leighton, AL, and Matt Porter of Sycamore, IL; four grandchildren, Kiara, Alexandra, Riley, and Colton; one brother William (Sandy) Porter.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, Gordon “Buck” Porter and his sister, Deborah Joy Porter.
A memorial service will be held at Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church , 328 George St, West Chicago on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 11:00 am, luncheon to follow.
