Edward F. Czajka, age 82, of West Chicago passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, November 30. He was born April 16, 1927 in Chicago, the son of the late Julia (nee Konieczny) and the late Frank Czajka. Ed was a resident of West Chicago from 1953 to the present. He was an active member and past Commander of America Legion Post 300 and a proud veteran and Purple Heart recipient of the US Navy in World War II. Ed was also a member of VFW Post 6791
Edward is survived by his five children: Catherine (George) Dobrowski of Texas, Steve Czajka of Montgomery, Tom Czajka of St. Charles, Peggy aka Marguerite Czajka of Warrenville, and Mike (Kim) Czajka of Murphysboro, 6 grandchildren: Dana (Kiva) Patten, Beth (Shawn) Boedecker, Michelle (Nate) Dobrowski, Krystin (Tony) Lazarz, Ashley Czajka, and Tom Czajka, and three great-grandchildren, Jason Boedecker, Alexis Boedecker, and Henry Patten. He is also survived by his sister Vivian (Ed) Pec. He was preceded in death by his wife Theresa of 59 years.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, December 3rd from 3 to 8 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St., West Chicago (One block north of Washington St. & Main St). Funeral services will be on Friday, December 4th at 10 am at the funeral home. Rev. Patrick Skinner officiating. Interment Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.
