Eleanor Shaw

Eleanor M. Shaw (nee Baker) , 90 years of age, formerly of St. Charles, IL passed away peacefully into God’s arms on October 14th, 2017 with her Son Don and daughter-in-law Erin at her side. Eleanor was born October 26th, 1926 to Earl and Minnie Baker in Clinton, Iowa.  She graduated from Clinton High School in 1945 and worked at the Clinton Company for several years.  Eleanor met David “Gale” Shaw also of Clinton through friends after he was honorably discharged from the US Navy after WWII. Their dating included rides on Gale's Harley Davidson Motorcycle. They were married on September 26th, 1948.

During their life together, they relocated for Gale’s job to New Orleans, LA; Galveston, TX; Alameda, CA, Minneapolis, MN; suburban Ontario Canada; Deerfield IL and St. Charles, IL.  Eleanor’s greatest love was being a Mother.  Eleanor was very involved with The Valley Lutheran High School Athletic Booster Club.  She was a proud Grandmother to four Grandchildren, Kelly, Estee, Tracy and Christopher Shaw. Eleanor enjoyed family visits to Iowa and Milwaukee, WI.  She was a big supporter of the “Thin Blue Line” and loved professional baseball.

Upon retiring, Eleanor and Gale relocated to Mountain Home, AR.  After a short time, they returned to Illinois and lived many years in Geneva before returning to St. Charles.

Eleanor is survived by her Son, Don and Daughter in Law, Erin (Christy); Granddaughters, Kelly, Estee and Tracy Shaw; Grandson, Christopher Shaw; Nieces, Sandy Lindsay and Carole Burlo along with Nephew, James Beaver, all of whom she loved and cherished.

She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Gale; Son, Larry; Sisters, Marvel Meyer, Earleen Blinkensop and Evelyn Malen; Brothers, Harry, Robert and Lyle and Grandson Andrew David Shaw.   Eleanor’s care was provided by Norris-Segert Funeral Home in West Chicago and graveside service was held with burial at Union Cemetery St. Charles next to Gale.
