Eugene Gaede

Eugene M. Gaede , age 90, longtime resident of West Chicago, passed away Tuesday, August 10, 2021. He was born on September 23, 1930, in Geneva, IL to Frederick and Stella (Glasshagel) Gaede. Gene was united in marriage on September 26, 1953, to Charleen Johanns. He was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in West Chicago. Gene was known to many families in West Chicago as their “Milkman,” and was welcomed into their homes. He loved being outside, mowing the lawn, attending to his yard or entertaining his grandchildren.  He had a creative streak and enjoyed drawing, building his unique birdhouses and crafting walking sticks. Gene was an auto enthusiast and always enjoyed time in his garage attending to his car. He loved to make other people happy. Gene was a humble man, who loved the Lord and demonstrated that love. Gene had a clever sense of humor that was enjoyed by his many friends, co-workers and neighbors. His family meant so much to him and he loved them all dearly.

Gene is survived by his wife of almost 68 years of marriage, Charleen Gaede; children, Paula (Jim) Mann, Patricia (Paul) Dixon and Reverend Fred (Valerie) Gaede; 8 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 1 great-greatgrandchild and relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 13, 2021, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. & Main Street), West Chicago. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church , 328 George St., West Chicago. Reverend John Westra officiating.
