Harry George Waterous

Harry George Waterous, age 82, of Glen Ellyn, passed away on December 6, 2024. He was born on March 7, 1942 in Chicago, IL to Harry and Lydia Waterous. Harry was a graduate of Mendel High School in Chicago and following high school he proudly served 4 years in the US Army in telecommunications. Harry was united in marriage on May 5, 1968 to Idajean Pence. He continued his career in telecommunications working for Western Electric and Verizon. He was an avid car collector and restored his Volkswagen Bug and Vanawagon. Harry was always learning something new, whether taking welding classes or learning about audio equipment. He enjoyed being an assistant Scoutmaster with many adventurous scouting trips. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather and loved his family dearly.

Harry is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ida Waterous; daughter, Chris Waterous and son, Harry (Kathleen) Waterous; grandchildren, Morgan and Gavin Fiedler; brother, Robert (Barbara) Waterous; sister, Cathy (John) Dylik; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, James Waterous, Edward (Dawn) Waterous and Daniel (the late Pat) Waterous.

Memorial visitation will take place on Saturday, December 14, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main) West Chicago. A service will take place at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
