Jessica Scott Oresteen, age 85, of North Port, FL, formerly of Wheaton, passed away June 30, 2010 at Provena Geneva Care Center in Geneva. She was born on May 30, 1925 in Rockford, Illinois to Wyatt and Jessie MacGaffey. Jessica served as a Pharmacist Mate 2nd Class in the US Navy during WWII. She received the WWII Victory Medal and American Theatre Ribbon. Jessica was united in marriage to Francis Paul Oresteen on September 17, 1949. She was a former teacher for District 89 in Glendale Heights, IL for many years. After retiring, Jessica moved to Florida and still kept substitute teaching. She was an expert bridge player and enjoyed quilting and sewing. Jessica was a world traveler who loved swimming and sunbathing.
She is survived by two daughters; Margaret Mary (Jeffrey) Howards of Leavenworth, KS and Kathryn Alice (James) Beifuss of West Chicago; three sons; Francis Arthur (Deborah) Oresteen of Phenix, AL, Anthony John (Brenda) Oresteen of Newnan, GA and Robert Michael Oresteen of Aurora, IL; sixteen grandchildren; Isaac, Stephanie, Michael, Raven, Angela, Paul, Laura, Seth, Erin, Matthew, Francis, Gracemary, Luke, Hannah, Kate and Rose; five great-grandchildren; one sister; Marjorie (Fred) Priest; one sister-in-law; Grace Mary Richards and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband Francis in 1993 and one son Andrew Charles in 1958.
Visitation Thursday, July 8, 2010 from 4 to 9 pm at Norris-Walen-Segert Funeral Home, 132 Fremont St. West Chicago. Prayers will be on Friday, July 9, 2010 at 9:30 am at the funeral home and proceed to St. Mary's Church. Mass 10 am.
