John Akin

John Wesley Akin , age 45, of Batavia and former resident of West Chicago, passed away on Monday, August 7, 2017. He was born on August 27, 1971 in Winfield, IL to James and Bette (Smith) Akin. John was a surveyor for USIC and enjoyed riding motorcycles, going to car shows and shooting.

John is survived by his mother, Bette Akin; fianceé, Maureen Uplegger; uncle, Larry Tucker; and many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, James; brother, James “Rusty”; aunt, Rose (late Joe) Genovesi; and both maternal and paternal grandparents.

Visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2017 from 3 to 8 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main) West Chicago. Prayers Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home to St. Mary’s Church , 164 N. Oakwood, West Chicago. Mass 9:30 a.m. Interment River Hills Cemetery in Batavia.
