John W. Hugunin Jr. , age 83, of West Chicago, passed away on June 18, 2021. He was born on December 30, 1937, in Elmwood Park, IL to John Sr. and Doris Hugunin. John was a US Army Veteran and an active member of American Legion Post 300 of West Chicago. He was an active and dedicated member of St. Andrew Lutheran Church where he once served on the parish council and past treasurer, a member of Stephen Ministries, member of West Chicago Sisters Cities Organization, and volunteered at Wayne Township. John worked at ABC as an auditor for 39 years. He was a happy giving person to everyone and his community. John loved his faithful companion dogs and especially loved being with his family.
John is survived by his children, John (Davina) Hugunin, Debra (Scott) Burmeister and Jacquelyn (Louis) Marolda, grandchildren, Douglas Burmeister (Kimberly D’Augustino), Matthew Burmeister, Vanessa Houghton, David Houghton, Dean Marolda, and Anthony Hugunin, honorary daughter, Lisa Robinson, nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Eugene Hugunin, sisters, Virginia Vales and Carole Stolts.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 23, 2021, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at St. Andrew Lutheran Church , 155 N. Prince Crossing Rd, West Chicago with a service at 6:00 p.m. Reverend Josh Ebener officiating. (Please wear a facemask inside St. Andrew Church) Private Interment on Thursday June 24, 2021, at Irving Park Cemetery in Chicago.
