Josephine Schumacher

Josephine E. Schumacher, age 89, of Naperville, formerly of West Chicago, passed away on Friday, August 27, 2010 at Community Nursing Home in Naperville. She was born on December 13, 1920 in West Chicago, IL to Geo. Fred and Elizabeth Hummel. Josephine attended West Chicago High School. After high school, she worked for the DuPage County Treasurer's office. Josephine was united in marriage on October 30, 1954 to William Schumacher. She was a teacher's aide for several years at Trinity Lutheran School in West Chicago. Josephine was a lifetime member of St. Michael's United Church of Christ in West Chicago. She enjoyed painting, cooking, traveling and gardening.
Josephine is survived by her son Richard Schumacher of Lockport; one brother Harry (late Velva) Hummel of West Chicago; two nieces; Dawn (Dave) Lindberg of Pennsylvania and Kathy Hummel (Bill Birch) of West Chicago; four great-nieces and nephews; Melissa and Nathan Birch and Mark and Martha Lindberg.
She is preceded in death by her parents and husband William in 1993.
