Justin O. Avey, age 56, of Bartlett, and formerly of Crete, passed away Friday, January 11, 2013, at Central DuPage Hospital after a 5 year battle with pancreatic and liver cancer. He was born on June 19, 1956 in Seattle, Washington to James and Vivian Avey. Justin was united in marriage on November 29, 1980 to Joan Plummer. He was the proud owner of Service Drywall and Decorating and Eckhart Construction and had served on various boards for the Painter's Union District Council 30. Justin was a long time member of the West Chicago Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon. He was a great supporter of multiple charities which included Mission Lazarus, Shults-Lewis Child and Family Services, and Rockford Christian Camp.
Justin is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joan; three children, Melissa (Jason) Day of West Chicago, Jason (Lauren) Avey of West Chicago and Jaime (Jon) Miller of Bartlett; seven grandchildren, Royal and Harper Day, Jett and Brynn Avey, Esther, Joshua and Elizabeth "Liza" Miller; mother,Vivian Avey of Crete, IL; siblings, Lianne Lang, Valinda (John) Tyson, Greg Avey and Theresa (Steve) Link; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 from 3 to 8 pm at World Overcomers Church, 1315 W. Lake St., Bartlett. Funeral Services on Wednesday, January 16, 2013 at 10 am at World Overcomers Church. Interment Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.
