Karen E. Gerber, of West Chicago, passed away on July 27, 2018, at 59 years old. She was born on August 2, 1958, in Oak Park, IL to Richard and Linda Lapp. Karen married Kim Gerber on July 24, 1982, and was mother to three children. She worked for over 15 years in IT for West Chicago School District 33. Karen loved reading, traveling, and the beach. She was a loyal friend and loved her family dearly, as well as the Chicago Cubs.
Karen is survived by her husband of 36 years, Kim Gerber; children, Kennedy, Kelsey, and Carissa Gerber (Dylan Bambino); father, Richard Lapp; sister, Laura Lapp; faithful companion, Cairo; and many relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Linda Lapp.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, from 12 p.m. until time of services at 4:30 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services (one block north of Washington St. and Main), 132 Fremont St., West Chicago. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in West Chicago. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Karen’s memory to her favorite charity, New Life for Haiti.
