Karen Holloway

Karen Sue (Brown) Holloway , age 77, of West Chicago, Illinois, passed away on February 21, 2020. She was born in Aurora, Illinois on October 16, 1942 to William and Dorothy Brown. Karen was united in marriage on April 23, 1965 to Leslie Holloway. She was a great mother, grandmother, wife, sister, and friend to so many people. She served the State of Illinois by working in the Public Health Department early in her career and eventually retired after more than 20 years as a secretary to the Governor’s office.

She loved telling stories about how she grew up, her many travels as a single woman, living overseas with small children, and tales about her grown children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader who enjoyed history and romance novels and could finish multiple books in a single day. She liked playing bingo, shopping for great deals, and spending time with those she cared about.

Karen is survived by her children David (Miriam) Holloway, Peter (Lisa) Holloway, James (Elsa) Holloway, Anne (Taylor) Yang, and Thomas (Norma) Holloway; grandchildren Rebecca, Isaiah, Tesla, Holly, Hunter, Malakai, Dominik, Katelyn, Johnathan, Jack, Tristan, Robert, and Owen; her sister Marilyn (Joseph) Stanek; and nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorothy and William Brown; husband, Leslie Holloway; and son, Michael Holloway.

A celebration of Karen’s life will take place on Saturday, February 29, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago. A funeral service will take place at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment to follow at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.
