Lawrence John "Lorny" Urban, age 86, long time resident of West Chicago, passed away on Saturday, July 2, 2011 at Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield. Lorny was born on October 28, 1924 in Eleanora, PA to Stephan and Mary Urban. He served in the US Army during WWII. Lorny was united in marriage on February 23, 1952 to Evelyn Granater. He was a retired Captain for the West Chicago Fire Department, retired with the West Chicago Park District and retired Iron Worker. Lorny was a member of the American Legion Post 300, Moose Lodge 1368 and Fraternal Order of Eagles. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching football.
Lorny is survived by his wife Evelyn of 59 years, six children; John (Judi) of Elgin, James Urban of Reynoldsville, PA, Barbara (James) Hensel of Aurora, Susan (David) Decker of Wheaton, Patricia (Robert) Miller of Streamwood and Michael (Carla) Urban of Batavia; twelve grandchildren; Jeni (Rob) Clayton, Josh Urban, Michael Urban, Gary Kranz Jr., Bridget (Jeff) Kerley, Adam Decker, Evan Decker, Reanne Miller, Justin Miller, Jake Urban, Alyssa Urban and Dominick Urban; six great-grandchildren; Taylor, Jake, Payton, Shauna, Marisa and Anthony and many nieces, nephews and other family and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and beloved brother, Thomas (Edith) Urban.
