Melissa L. Medeiros

Melissa L. Medeiros, age 54, of West Chicago, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2024, with her loving family at her side. She was born on May 1, 1969, in Springfield, IL.  Melissa was united in marriage on June 17, 1989, to Marc Medeiros, whom she loved dearly. Together they built a life full of love, adventure, joy and happiness. She worked for over 18 years for the West Chicago Park District holding many different titles with her most recent being a Facilities Supervisor at the ARC Center. She took great pride in her work and especially enjoyed running the Senior’s Luncheon with the fire department. She will leave an everlasting mark at the West Chicago Park District and was able to make a huge impact through the work that she did there. Melissa was a Trustee with the West Chicago Fire Protection District and a pillar in the West Chicago community. She loved traveling, camping, music, helping at community events, and especially loved spending time with her family and grandchildren. Melissa was considered a mom to many and was cherished by many others. She will be deeply missed.

Melissa is survived by her loving husband Marc, of 35 years, son, Robert Medeiros; daughters, Amanda (Daniel) Donovan and Taylor (Thomas) Ferguson; daughter-in-law, Megan (Heath) Cordes; grandchildren, Mackenzie, Skylar, Xander, Bodi, Ophelia and Maeve; brothers, Justin (Crissy) Wolf and Todd (Jillian) Sporrer; father-in-law, John Medeiros Sr., and many friends and relatives.

A celebration of Melissa’s life will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2024, at the West Chicago Park District ARC Center, 201 W. National Street, West Chicago, IL 60185 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. The West Chicago Fire Department will be having a ceremonial walk through at 3:30 p.m.

A donation box will be present at her memorial service for individuals interested in donating money towards a permanent build project at the West Chicago Park District.
