Miguel Cortez

Miguel Diaz Cortez , age 90, longtime resident of West Chicago, passed away on Friday, December 25, 2020. He was born in Mexico on March 15, 1930 to Angel and Regina Cortez. Miguel was united in marriage on July 16, 1947 to Andrea Paniagua. He worked for many years as an equipment operator for the railroad. He was a devoted family man and enjoyed watching his grandchildren’s sports and being a part of their lives. Miguel’s and Andrea’s goal was to provide a better life than what they had and by the grace of God they accomplished that!

Miguel was the beloved husband of the late Andrea Cortez; loving father of Arcadio (Serafina) Cortez, Eulalia (Roberto) Marmolejo, Beatrice (Juventino) Alfaro, the late Yolanda (Carlos) Ayala, Antonio (Guadalupe) Cortez, Maria Isabel (Juan) Fernandez, the late Miguel (Bridget) Cortez, Christina Cortez, Martha (Rick) Ventimilla, Johnny (Joy) Cortez and Helen Cortez; loving grandfather of 30; great-grandfather of 53; great-great grandfather of 2; brother of 6; uncle of many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago. A private family service will follow. Interment Calvary Cemetery in West Chicago.
