Nancy Ann (Rohr) Claus , passed away on February 2, 2021 at the age of 76. She was born in Aurora, IL on May 1, 1944. Nancy graduated second in her high school class at West Chicago High School. She went on to earn a Bachelors in Actuarial Science at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. She made many dear friends there and was a big fan of both their football and basketball teams. She went to the 1963 Rose Bowl game with her brother and helped tear down the goal post when they won to take home a piece as a souvenir. She worked at Bell Labs as a computer programmer where she met her husband Richard. She was a loving and devoted stay at home mom after her children were born and cared for her mother when Elma’s health started to fail. She volunteered at the hospital, with PADS, and Aldersgate UMC as a Sunday School teacher, tutor, and Financial Secretary for many years. Nancy was devoted to her family, friends and church. She worked for Ace Hardware as an Accounts Receivable clerk after her children grew up and retired to help care for her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her family and playing bridge and pinochle with her family and friends. Nancy loved music and was a talented pianist and saxophonist. Nancy was also an excellent baker and green thumb in the garden. In her youth and then as a mother she won a number of awards at the DuPage County Fair for her baking and gardening. She was a quiet and kind person that was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed. She was proceeded in death by her loving husband of 46 years, Richard, her parents, Elma and Wendell Rohr, and brother, Wayne Rohr. She is survived by her two children Christy (Jeremy), and Walter (Melissa) and her four grandchildren Lily, Riley, Gretchen, and Isabell, sister-in-law Betty Rohr, brother and sister-in-law Albert and Alison Claus, niece, Sarah, and nephews Arthur, Laurence (Kate), Joseph, and Michael (Amber).
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main St), West Chicago, IL from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. where funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. The family asks that all who attend wear a mask and practice social distancing to keep each other safe .
