Patricia 'Becky' Alexander

Patricia M. Alexander, “Becky” to everyone, (nee Lampros) born in E. St Louis, Il on May 14, 1937 and died March 27, 2021. She was born to parents William and Voulie (Stavroula) Lampros, had 3 brothers, Tommy, Louie and Johnny Lampros and a sister Betty (Skarlatos), which she adored, they are all deceased.

She was married to Constantine Kassaros in 1960, at that time marriage was arranged commonly in Greek tradition and together they had three children, Elaine, Jon and Jamey. Elaine (Joel) Sauer, Jon (Lora Sauer), Jamey (Randy) Johnson, and many grandchildren & great children. Her nieces and nephews always thought she was the fun and special aunt, where her love was shown to all. She was very independent and thought the world of her family.

She divorced in 1969, she and her children moved to Wheaton where she went to work for DuPage Lumber Company for many years, when it closed, she went to work for F.E. Wheaton Lumber Co until retiring.

After retiring from F.E. Wheaton, she took a year off and decided retirement was for the birds and found work at MarianJoy Rehabilitation Hospital with the perfect position for her to shine & share all her love and encouragement for others, she worked at MarianJoy for 20 years until July 31, 2020.

Her faith and prayer were always strong and at the forefront of her life. In 1999, she was on a church trip to the Holy land in Jerusalem where she was baptized in the Jordan river, she loved every bit of that trip and her experience there.  It was a story we heard time and time again.

Our mother was known to many people as warm, kind and fun loving. She unconditionally gave whatever she had to those in need. Many times, as teenagers, if my sibling’s and I found any of our friends would need a place to stay, our mother always opened the door at our home whether it was days, weeks or months. And it didn’t stop there, she had many people - including friends, family members of friends and even complete strangers in need that she opened her home to, to help them get on their feet.

There was a fire in the building next to her condo, a young couple from Asia with no family here in the states were displaced as their home had caught on fire. She offered them the opportunity to live at her home while their home was repaired. They didn’t speak English well at all and she didn’t speak their native language but it didn’t matter she saw someone that needed help and extended it to them.

At work, she often won awards and received recognition for her warm greetings and customer care, she was kind to colleagues and patients alike, many former family members of patients at MarianJoy still keep in touch with her! She was magnetic - she loved people, she had a warm heart and was interested in others. Children especially lit her life up. Every grandchild had a special place in her heart, and she loved them all unconditionally. And they will feel the void of her great love she gave them the most.

She had a great work ethic and loved every job and every BOSS! Who can say that? And she showed by example of how to treat others & be of service to others. She loved to dance, sing and play poker!

My siblings and I are touched by how many people would call her daily, check on her & be a part of her life. Her group of friends and acquaintances was huge.

The legacy she leaves behind is one of love (may we all carry that forward), of putting your faith in God (and she truly was ready at the end), she was caring & interested in others. She could also be stubborn, and we would often tease her about this…she would crack a joke and say, you know I am a Taurus…with a smile.

Our hearts may be heavy, but we will focus on all the good she shared in her life, the love she gave us every day. And find her daily in our lives for her spirit lives on in us.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 30, 2021 from 6:00 - 8:00pm at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services , 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. & Main Street) West Chicago. Visitation on Wednesday, March 31, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. until time of funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.
