Richard E. Vogel

Richard E. Vogel, age 84 of Geneva, IL, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2024 at his residence. He was born in Elmhurst, IL on September 23, 1940, the son of John and Hertha (haas) Vogel. Richard was a US Army Veteran from 1960-1963. He said those years were the best times of his life as he hitch hiked all across Europe. 

Richard was the proud owner of St. Charles Radiator shop for many years in downtown St. Charles. His biggest talent was carpentry and woodworking. He was known for his creative mind and the willingness to help everyone around him. His hobbies included "garbage" picking, coin collecting, and going to every ball game of his eldest great grandsons. 

Richard is the beloved husband of the late Dawn (nee Buckner); father of the late Kimberly (Bert) Hochsprung and the late Brian Vogel; grandfather of Ryan (Sara) Hochsprung and Amanda (Ronny) Greene; great-grandfather of Carson and Luca; brother of Marge Massa; and survived by many relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. and Main), West Chicago. Funeral service at 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Glen Oak Cemetery in West Chicago.
