Rita Joan Cross

Rita Joan Cross (nee Owca), age 88, longtime resident of Winfield, passed away December 20, 2022. She was born in Chicago on April 2, 1934, to Stanley and Marie Owca. Rita was a very active parishioner at St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield, where she was a member of the CCW, Young at Hearts and a volunteer in the school library. She enjoyed bowling, playing bridge, sewing, gardening, cooking and was a former member of the Red Hatters and Cub Scout Leader. She loved decorating for the holidays especially Christmas.

Rita is survived by her son, Mike (Petra) Cross and daughter, Julie Moreau; grandchildren, Dave (Jenn) Cross, Tim Moreau, and Paul Moreau (Carly) great-grandchildren, Ella, Evelynn, Chase; special friend, Linda Crenshaw; nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Paul in 1986.

Visitation Wednesday, December 28, 2022, from 10:30 a.m. until time of prayers at 12:30 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 132 Fremont St. (one block north of Washington St. & Main Street) West Chicago then proceeding to St. John the Baptist Church in Winfield for Mass at 1:30 p.m. Interment St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
