Rogers Pedersen , age 85, long time resident of West Chicago, passed away on Friday, April 7, 2017 just short of his 86th birthday. He was born on April 8, 1931 in Chicago, IL to James and Lena Pedersen. Rogers was united in marriage on December 2, 1950 to Arlene Heinz at St Mary’s Catholic Church. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and bowling. Rogers coached and was involved with many baseball and football youth teams in West Chicago which included being one of the first coaches of Pop Warner Youth Football, started the tee-ball league and was a Baseball Athletic Director. He retired from the carpenter trade after 30 years of hard worked service. After retiring, Rogers started his own furniture business, Antiques of Tomorrow. He opened 3 furniture stores in West Chicago as he grew his business and finally settled with his family store in Plainfield. He was a hard worker throughout his life and loved his family.

Rogers is survived by his wife of 66 years, Arlene Pedersen; children, Kathy (Dan) Huml, John (Becky) Pedersen, Linda Pedersen, Debi Pedersen, Jeff Pedersen, Ken Pedersen and Michael (Kathy) Pedersen; 14 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Pedersen; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Sheldon and James; and sister, Holly.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2017 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Norris-Segert Funeral Home & Cremation Services (one block north of Washington St. and Main), 132 Fremont St., West Chicago.
