William (Bill) August Malmberg, age 95, of West Chicago, IL passed away on March 21, 2025. He was born July 30, 1929 in Elmhurst, IL to Arvid and Mabel Malmberg. Bill, followed in his dad’s footsteps and learned work ethics and carpentry. Even during woodworking shop in high school, he built a flat bottom boat to the envy of his classmates and astonishment of his teachers. As a young teenager Bill also developed his love for fishing, fishing clubs and enjoyed fly tying. Bill passed on to his children, relatives, and friends the same enthusiasm. Bill graduated from Glen Ellyn High School in 1947 and was a Veteran of the US Army.
Bill was united in marriage April 23, 1955 to Shirley Shakespeare and was anticipating celebrating his seventieth wedding anniversary next month with his loving wife. He was a talented carpenter and contractor for many years. Bill was extremely generous with his time helping friends and family fix, repair or even remodel their homes. He additionally enjoyed building small furniture and crafts. Bill loved the outdoors, whether gardening or fishing at his cabin in Wisconsin. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. His generosity with his time, patience, knowledge, storytelling and humor will be sorely missed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Shirley and their children: Carl (Tara) Malmberg, Marie (Patrick) Baldwin, and Stu (Li) Malmberg; 4 grandchildren: Jeff (Samantha) Baldwin, Greg (Suzanne) Baldwin, Samantha (Dalton Markrush) Malmberg, and Alex Malmberg and 4 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 2 sisters Lois and Mabel and 2 brothers Tom and George.
