Wolfgang Paul Smailus

Wolfgang Paul Smailus, age 78, of Waterman, passed away on November 16, 2023. He was born in Weilsig, Germany on January 20, 1945 to Hugo Paul Smailus and Hilde Martha Juschka Smailus, Wolfgang was a US Army Veteran serving in the 11^th Calvary and was station in Bein Hoa-Xuan Loc Vietnam in 1966 - 1967. He was united in marriage on May 1, 1971 to Diana Rolf. Wolfgang loved to cut hair & owned a barber shop in Geneva for many years. He owned a billiard room in Batavia where he enjoyed mentoring & playing billiards with his lifelong friends traveling to tournaments.  Wolf adored fishing, gardening, his horses, and his dogs.

Wolfgang is survived by his wife, Diana Smailus, daughter, Anna Smailus; brother, Konrad (Mary) Smailus; sister, Christa Chocker; sister-in-law, Martha Offutt-Gruber; brother -in-law David Offutt; Brother-in-law Peter Gruber nieces & nephew Hayley Offutt, Danni Offutt, Thomas Gruber. Brother -in-law Stephen Rolf, Sister-in-law Diane Rolf; niece & nephew Jon Rolf & Kristen (Jason) Clauser.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of Wolfgang’s life will be held at a later date.
